Blue Ribbon Kitchen

This kitchen is the place where a State Fair blue ribbon winner practices, experiments and creates. Aptly named the Blue Ribbon Kitchen, this space conscious and functional workspace is fit for an award winning chef.

We turned a long, narrow galley into an open kitchen complete with a center island and loads of storage. In order to use every inch of space the nook left over above the stairs to the basement is filled with shaped drawers that serve as perfect spaces for unique items like rolling pins. All base cabinet drawers also pull out to full depth to ensure nothing gets lost and that there’s room so store larger items. An integrated refrigerator flush with the cabinetry creates more space and a unified, seamless look.

The overall lightness of the space reflects the owner’s open, inquisitive approach; with materials that feel good to the touch, well designed appliances and carefully considered places for everything to land. The space stays functional through all stages of cooking, from prep to cleanup – nothing feels like a chore. The Blue Ribbon Kitchen looks every bit as good as it feels, which is important because, when she cooks for crowds of family and friends, it becomes the stage for her performance.
