Two Sheds In A Bowl | Golden Valley, Minnesota
On an urban infill lot that steeply sloped inward from all four sides and was densely wooded, the design challenge was to create a house that minimized the impact on the site's sensitive hydrology. The solution is a house that steps down the slope in three boxes to allow for drainage without major earthwork. A bridge is used as a sidewalk and the driveway is integrated into a bioretention wall and follows the contours of the slope. The house is also sited to minimize the number of trees disturbed, maintaining the site's natural capacity to take on water without flooding. |
